Unauthorised item on bank account
I check my bank account daily and this morning there was a payment to Apple dated today of £89.99. This payment was made using my new debit card. I’m sure I haven’t used my new card for any Apple payments and I have no idea what it is for (it says it’s a recurring payment). My bank have advised that I contact Apple direct to cancel it as it is pending.
has anyone else had this problem?

If so, what have you previously subscribed to?

How 'new' is the card? If it replaced a cancelled or expired one, any recurring payments set earlier remain even if the card number changed.
And your bank fobbed you off. You can contact Apple, but you don't have to, especially if you don't have an account with them. Your bank must reverse any unauthorised transaction and stop recurring payments to this provider in the future if you request this: Continuous payment authority: manage recurring payments - MSE

Apple TV Plus appears to be £89 'dead' per year.
Cannot find an £89.99 annual subscription so far.Indications are, however, that it would be an annual subscription for something, I agree.

Technically, that advice is correct - and it's fine if you don't have an account with apple.
But if you do have an account with apple, as far as apple is concerned, your account could go into arrears if you reversed the payment. Having arrears on your account might cause you problems with apple in future. For example, apple might block your apple account.
So, as the bank suggests, it might be better to try to resolve it with apple, and hopefully apple will do a refund if appropraite.
Is it possible, for example, that
- you subscribed to a service that had a free introductory period, followed by an annual fee of £89.99?
- a family member is linked to your apple account, and they did something or ordered something that incurred a charge of £89.99?

It sounds like it might be Apple Care or something like that that renews each year, they often try and sneak automatic renewal in when you sign up for things. Does you Apple account show any subscriptions? .

While you are right, bank could deal with it. That would leave the OP in a very embarrassing situation if it was a genuine payment. Which could well mean Apple possibly removing their account for claiming fraud.
Which is why if a customer has a relationship with a company it is better for bank to ask them to contact the company 1st 👍
Aside from this OP also needs to check that no one else in the household may have used their card (family apple account) to subscribe to anything.

I think my missus gets a recurring payment for Apple each year, the latest for £89.99. It's for MS Office.
