TSB SWITCH ACCOUNTS

It would appear that there are hoops to go through when you open an account with TSB.

I used the link from MSE to switch accounts but apparently I done it incorrectly and have not received any bonus because you actually have to open an account then you have to apply for the "Switch"

I'm not the only one to do this as TSB have had complaints about this, this morning.

Hopefully they will see the light and realise that it should not be a 2 step system to open an account with them.

Which "link from MSE" did you use? And which particular incentive did you try to take advantage of?

Account opening and account switching are two fundamentally different processes, and they need to remain separate. You can open a new account without switching, and you can also switch without opening a new account.

You should always double check the T&Cs of any bank switch offer directly from the bank in question. Never rely on MSE or anyone else's interpretation of the terms. It's fairly common these days to require you to open a brand new account and switch into that, rather then switch into an existing account. Without knowing which specific incentive you are referring to it's hard to say more then that.

I don't see anything in the T&C saying this and I'd be surprised if this actually was the case.

The terms say that you either have to have an existing account, and request a switch to that account, or open a new account and request a switch to that new account.

So, if you already have an account, it's just a one step process. If you don't already have an account there are two steps in the process. It can't be anything less, because you first have to have an account to switch to.

No, with the most recent TSB offer you could use an existing account or open a new one. Even if you had to open a new account, you would open it and then commence your switch. Two steps, but can usually be done together in the one application process.

I'm not the only one to do this as TSB have had complaints about this, this morning.

    How do you know this?

Might be a good idea to read the switch T&Cs before embarking on another switch offer, to avoid future disappointment.

I opened an account and switched into it. I used the app, made 5 card transactions and I paid in £1K. So all conditions met - but they still have NOT paid. Bunch of charlatans. Never had a problem with any of the other 5 switches I've done.

Well, they explained you why they haven't paid, didn't they? And if you did meet all conditions, you submitted a formal complaint, didn't you?

No, they haven't, and I never said they had. I am still waiting to hear from TSB. Did you actually read what i said before making your inane comment?

Finally got a response from TSB - they've now paid me (late) stating "we have a backlog in payments".
