External shading is the most effective but suffers from weathering. If you want to be really cheap then a coat of whitewash but it looks pretty grotty. Greenhouse shading material is not too expensive but again the appearance is a downside. Internal blinds can be expensive. We had some concertina type which were a disaster as they collected all the dead insects. We now have roller blinds which are fine but not cheap.0

I had concertina roof blinds installed to stop the glare, haven't had a problem with insects. I only pull them across when I need to, the rest of the time they are pushed tightly back.0

Depends on the conservatory I suppose. Ours is the old fashioned sort of conservatory with garden furniture among lots of plants so we are probably more likely to attract insects. Another problem we had with the concertina blinds was that they did not last very long. But we were using them regularly on summer afternoons to keep the heat out. Our roller blinds (difficult to find for the sloping roof) are much more robust and show no signs of wearing out.0 -
A friend of ours put up the cheap white roman blinds from Ikea on her roof. She fixed wires from one side to the other and then sewed the blinds on to them. Cheap and they still let in the light but without the glare.I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0

We have done the same thing, but we used voile. They are getting ready for changing soon so I might look at using the roman blinds next time.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0 -
