making your own funeralOrder of service I have a template but the priest isn't being helpful at all.
Roman catholic funeral service. It's a service not a mass.
I am making an order of service and have multiple templates. All of them 'require' things Like 'Opening words', opening prayer, and more importantly the actual order of the service.
The priest isn't in the country at the moment and legitimately seemed agitated and !!!!!! off.
I was asking about the order when I called him for our arranged phone call to speak about the service etc He huffed and said "I won't know that till the day. Just do an order of service or pay for some one to do one if you don't know what you're doing".
I called his secretary shortly afterwards and she said I'd need to speak to him about it.
We know the hymns etc but not the actual layout of the service. Am i being dumb?
I am not catholic so don't know about any of this. We don't have the money to have them done professionally.
This is the template

Can you post on a local FB area close to the church and someone else who got married there may be able to help you.
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Could you pop into your local RC Church and see if there are any Orders of Service left after a Funeral. ?
You might like to think about Hymns - my local Funeral Director has suggestions on their website.
I applaud you for sorting these things out Too- many families struggle after a death - not knowing what the deceased would have liked.
I have stewarded many funerals at my CofE church - best going out music ever was the Thunderbirds theme ! Last week a friend - train-nut - went out to Flanders and Swann "Slow Train". Best floral tribute was a wreath of balls of wool and knitting needles - reflecting the talent of the deceased.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
If you're using a funeral director they may have an example.

I'm not sure how much of what's missing is needed. For example, do you need to know what the priest will say in his opening words?
Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Your Funeral Director should be able to help you on this. They should also be more than capable of producing the service sheets themselves. They were included in the quotation we received from them. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing about music and appropriate front sheet for the order of service….

I agree that that template doesn’t look much like a simple funeral service to me. You say it is not a mass yet the order has Communion.
I ageee that the funeral director should be able to help you.0 -
I helped organise a Catholic funeral recently, here’s what I learnt.
The funeral directors wouldn’t get involved in writing the Order of Service if it was in a Church, but would print it once the priest signed the wording off.
The priest said it was optional whether we had a printed OoS, and if we did, we could do it ourselves or get it professionally printed; he gave a contact name of a parishioner who seemed to have a side line in printing and knew the process. Which was cheaper than the Funeral Directors standard OoS.
Essentially, we had to choose the hymns and pick the 1st/2nd readings, Psalm and Gospel reading; we didn’t have a clue so the Priest gave various options for us to choose.
This outline was given to the printer/parishioner who filled in the gaps and sent the draft for the priest to approve.
Looking at your template you need to choose:
Opening hymn
First Reading and who will actually read it.
Responsorial Psalm and who will read it.
Gospel reading and who will read it.
Closing Hymn
You say you have multiple templates, did the priest give you these or did you find them on the web; as it seems overly complex.
I would go back to his secretary and ask who in the parish can help you.
