Reimbursement of expenses due to Qatar flight cancellation via middle east
hi
We were stranded in the Maldives from 9th March to 15th March. After unsuccessfully trying to contact Qatar airlines via several communication lines we booked a flight home with emirates on the 15th March and paid for accommodation until then whilst waiting to rebook or reroute through Qatar. I am trying to claim reimbursement of expenses. Qatar won’t reimburse after several complaints. They are not listed on the ADR website nor can the CAA help as they are not a uk airline and therefore exempt from the uk261 regulation. I have submitted a claim to my travel insurance but am not holding out much hope there either. Has anyone any advice please or should I just give up?

Was it a flight-only booking (with accommodation sourced independently) or a package?

yes flight only & accommodation separately booked

I suspect your username will have been well-chosen then, unless you can find anything within the airline's policies or the Qatari or Maldives' consumer/aviation regulations. They've presumably refunded you for the cancelled flight itself?
