Morning everyone everyone and Happy Easter
Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of day, I don't think I've had my laptop on.
Little one stayed on Friday night, she was so pleased with herself as she has managed 4 weeks of school, quite a record for her. We went to one of our local parks for an Easter bunny hunt, with the reward of a chocolate egg. We've been almost every year since she was small, so she knows all the trickier hiding places, but she still enjoyed it. Then down into town where we picked up my prescription and went for lunch. The afternoon was spent colouring and playing games, she's getting very good at draughts!
Mam has been very unsettled in the care home, but seems to be coping a bit better now. She was really upsetting dad by telling him she was going to take him home and trying to get out the front door every time someone went in or out. I had a chat with her and just had to tell her I'm sorry but she won't be going home, and for both their sakes she has to try to accept it. She did go on a bus trip on Thursday morning, just to the cafe at the garden centre, so that's progress. I'm trying to be patient, I would absolutely hate people telling me where to live and what to do. It's her 85th birthday today, I've bought her some lovely tulips which I'll take down this afternoon.
I haven't read back properly but saw your post about O's mum Red Ruby, that was so awful for you especially when you'd offered to stay with him so she could go away.
Silver Oldie I hope you're feeling better soon x
The wind has been awful here since last night, my bins are all over the garden. I have put some washing out as the sun is shining for now.
Can anyone offer any advice…Mam and dad both have council funding for the care home, but will pay a contribution as they fall in the 14000 to 23000 bracket. Do I have to send their contributions from their bank account to the council along with their pensions and dads' private pension or do they get sent straight to the council? I've googled and I can't find an answer.
Ok best get on. Hope everyone has a lovely day x

Happy Easter Sunday all. Weather seems to be calming down now & there is blue sky, but there was no lingering last night when I let Ldog out, for him or me. I was scared a slate or something would fly down, it was so noisy.
We had a curry from our fave restaurant as a treat last night, enough left for tomorrow. We nipped to AsDa for a bottle of wine for DB1 birthday which hopefully we'll take later, and of course DH got sucked into the 25% off deal.
Sorry to hear you've had a fall @silver-oldie, hope you recover soon.Have a good trip @Suffolksue.
Bless you @Coxy11 , what a time to be hitch-hiking.
No eggs here either, but DS1 got a big bag of liquorice allsorts that he and DH have been making inroads into 😉
Take care all

@dp1 When my mother was in that situation I paid the Care Home her contribution directly but it was some years ago. Have you been sent paperwork regarding the amount to pay?

Happy Easter Sunday all
SO sorry to read about your fall take it easy.
Gers glad you missed the worst of the storm.
Coxy Im sure the young man was grateful.
DP1 Happy Birthday to your Dmum. Hopefully she will sort out soon. Maybe call your mums sw about their bills or talk to the homes management.
DD called me at midnight to say her back fence had come down completely. Nothing can be done until Tuesday as managing agent closed for Easter break.
Roast lamb for dinner today and lots of my favourite veg. Then cold lamb (another favourite of mine).
Hope everyone keeps safe and warm, enjoy your eggs or other treats ( if you are partaking).
Hugs to all who want them.

@dp1 for my elderly friend i'm still waiting for the local authority to invoice her and she started a six week assessment on the 12 February. She is now waiting for permanent placement but I don't know if she will then need to pay direct. However our local authority is known for being incredibly slow at invoicing. She has no savings but has small private pension as well as her state pension so is required to pay a portion of her pension currently £180 a week it will change as she will need to have a financial review when they find a permanent placement. The LA have to leave her with approx £30 a week but can take the rest.
Just checking you know that that is £14,000 to £23,250 per person if the money is in joint names or they have separate accounts with similar amounts (28,000 - £46,500). However If it is all in a single person account for example all in your dad's name it is all counted as his and they will take money until it reaches £14,000.

Morning, I hope everyone has survived Storm Dave! It was a very wild and windy night here and at one point something hit the window at the back of my living room but there's nothing amiss, thank goodness. This morning is a bit calmer but the wind is still gusting and we're being treated to sunshine and showers. I can't see any damage outside but I think quite a few people will need to search for their bins!
Apart from making dinner, I'm going to have a lazy day. I cooked my lamb joint yesterday so it's just to slice up, some to heat in gravy for today and lots for the freezer. No Easter eggs but I do have a bar of chocolate stashed away in case I fancy a piece or two. 😄
@SO - Sorry to hear you've had a fall, please take it easy for a while.
Happy Easter Sunday all, have a peaceful day. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Thank you Wicked lady and Brambling, they haven't had a financial assessment yet, maybes I'm getting ahead of myself.
Brambling yes the money is in a joint account so half each, I was very surprise to learn that they stop taking money once it reaches £14,000. I'm assuming they can still spend money from their account for things they need?
I've just had to rescue my washing from the snow! It's now hailstones, I've booked a taxi to take me down to the care home.
