Top Savings Accounts.............Not ISA's
I have some cash I'd like to put in a savings bank. I have used my ISA allowance for 2026/7 so am looking for the best interest rate I can find. After reading MSE I selected a few banks: Chase, Prosper, Trading 212 and Chetwood - all are easy access. I'm now attempting to open accounts in these banks but find out ALL are APPS. I have a standard mobile phone which has NO apps as I only do my banking on my laptop computer. But it appears that I can't have a bank account unless I use my (very old) mobile phone. Is this right?

Well done for using your 2026/27 ISA allowance before the start of the tax year, how did you do that?
You'll have to bite the bullet and get a smartphone if you want access to some of the better paying accounts.
If you go MSE cheap and buy second hand, take into account whether the OS version will support the required apps.2 -
Trading212 isn't App-only, you can use a web browser too.

Chetwood doesn't have an app, so website login access would be via a sms text message to your mobile.
your best bet will be to search Moneyfacts, where you can filter on savings accounts that don't require an app.

I am also looking for non ISA savings options. I do have a Smartphone but really dislike using a phone to set up accounts. I want to use my laptop!

As with most things in life, you have a choice. A basic smartphone that will meet your needs for this (and many other aspects of modern life) can be had for about £100. Or, you can choose savings providers that are not app-only.
There are plenty of decent rates from web-based providers, though they might always be the absolute best.

Oak north 1yr fix @4.53 and 2 Yr @4.55 well worth a consideration. So easy to navigate and have 5 accounts with them

think you have a ‘not’ missing from your second para

Or perhaps the OP had requested a future dated bank transfer from their current account…
