Easter eggs reduced
Do Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Aldi or Asda have a history of reducing the price substantially after this weekend to get rid of left over stock ?
I fancy treating myself but only if it's cheap lol

Yes. Last year in Asda we got loads of the medium eggs - currently £1.25 (99p in Lidl) - for around 35p each

Even a reduced Easter Egg might still cost more than the equivalent chocolate in regular bar / bag formats.

I visited Morrisons, Lidl and Tesco this morning. None of them had that many eggs. Tesco only had large ones ( reduced from £15 to £10) or 2 other smaller ones which were reduced but were more expensive than they had been a week ago

Might have more luck on Monday or Tuesday.

My local Asda had thousands covering two full isles earlier today........some already priced at £2.50. I suspect someone at Asda has over ordered and they are going to have to be seriously discounted from Tuesday onwards !
No wonder Asda financials are in such deep trouble. They can't seem to get much right at the moment.

It tends to alternate.
Two years ago, our local Tesco totally sold out by the weekend before Easter.
Last year our Tesco had masses reduced.
This year they probably sell out
As this is MSE, I repeat and emphasise my earlier comment that Easter Eggs are expensive and simply buying a regular bar of chocolate will get you more chocolate for your money.

and if it’s Cadbury they will not be chocolate.

They are catching on to the fact that for all their pushing for months to make you buy for a certain day a lot of people were happy to have Christmas/Easter a day or two late but at half the price and they got more canny with their ordering.
I used to do this but now I'm happy to do without. The eggs that are sans Palm oil are now in boxes you can't see through but the egg is much smaller than the box.
They used to be delicious but are now made differently so no longer have that wonderful melt in the mouth feel.
Ditto my Christmas advent calendar by expensive make had only half a dozen real treats and the rest were thin bit of chocolate, a disappointment at a heck of a price.
There was an interesting blog on think money . Informative and funny

Lidl tend to be a bit mean with their reductions - 20% for a few days until they suddenly drop to pennies, depending on how well they sell.
@Grumpy_chap - I was planning on heading down to Waitrose tomorrow as their eggs are interesting flavour combinations with proper chocolate, and their seasonal goodies are known to be reduced to half price. But this article is making me think twice: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/apr/05/waitrose-employee-sacked-after-stopping-shoplifter-from-taking-easter-eggs#:~:text=A%20Waitrose%20employee%20of%2017,when%20a%20customer%20stopped%20him.

So much to read, so little time.1 -
That does put you off Waitrose a bit, but even more so when I read one of the linked articles underneath about the man with autism that ended up going to Asda from them (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/oct/23/asda-hires-autistic-man-who-was-let-go-by-waitrose-after-years-of-volunteering).
I'd imagine the first man was sacked for throwing something (albeit he said at a trolley and not at the shop-lifter) rather than trying to stop the man from walking out with his 'haul'. But it must be incredibly frustrating for anyone working in retail to see people continually just lifting what they want and walking out without being challenged.
Back on topic, I bought a couple of bags of the Aldi Dairyfine Filled Mini Eggs, jaffa and nukota, for £2.49, only to see them reduced to £1.79 in store this week. They can't have been selling well enough.
