Front door scraping on carpet
The ideal solution is to get someone with a plane to sheer of a bit of the door so it stops scraping, but I'm wondering if the constant opening and closing of the front door will eventually flatten out / compress the carpet so it's not as bad?

Is this a problem due to a change in carpet thickness? Is the carpet actually thick or is the front door too low?
Could you install a natural coir mat there instead of the carpet, assuming it is thinner?
A photo would help

The door is a bit low but with normal carpet it would be ok, I have pretty thick carpet with underlay. I was thinking to just pull the carpet back and remove that section of underlay so the carpet sits lower?

Not a fan of having two-level carpet, it doesn't look clean. I put a picture of mine, obviously, how well it would work for you depends on your layout; you've not attached a photo.

Have you recently had a new carpet fitted? If so, that's pretty common. The carpet will flatten down over time, but it's no big deal to remove the door and plane off a small amount from the bottom. It's a simple DIY job if you have a plane, or most carpet fitters will offer to do it for a small fee.

Yeah brand new carpet. Don't have a plane and it's a fire door that has some kind of chain thing, knowing me I'll miss it up and won't be able to put the door back on. I'll leave it for now if it doesn't flatten I'll call someone to do it.

In previous houses I have taken up the carpet from just inside the door, replaced with vinyl floor tiles and had a washable doormat on top. But not because of door rubbing, so I don't know whether vinyl+doormat would still rub.

The "some kind of chain thing" is an automatic door closer as it is a fire door. It can be removed by opening the door and using the tool that came with the door closer to lock the chain so that the bracket on the door frame can be removed and then the hinges can be undone/removed and the door removed for planing. A handyman should be able to deal with it and may have dealt before so should/could have the locking plate already.
