Paying with Paypal using credit card = cash advance?

I just bought my first item on ebay and paid for the item by credit card via paypal. The transaction hasn't shown on my credit card account yet - does anyone one know if the credit card company will treat it as a cash advance? I bought something via nochex once and had no-end of problems getting the cash advance fee returned by the credit card company...

I think its just treated as a normal merchant transaction, just taking a few days to show up.

My paypal credit card purchases have always been treated like a normal purchase of goods, not a a cash advance.

paypal has different types of transactions, if it's a normal ebay transaction there is no fee to send money, only the seller is charged for recieving it. If you send some a quashi cash payment then you will not get charged by paypal, but your credit card company will treat this as a cash advance and charge you. So when you win an auction always pay via the invoice rather than logging in and sending the money direct to the seller.

This is a tricky onme now, my partner read the new terms on the MBNA card and it was sort of saying that a payapal payment would be treat as a cash advance, not 100 % sure though so perhaps best to check

MBNA are sticklers for wringing every last penny out of their customers!

I use an MBNA card for all my Paypal payments, and havn't had any cash advance charges, if they start charging, i'll just cancel the card telling them why.

Just went and checked my MBNA account to see if anything has changed, nope, no cash advance charges for any payments made this week.

I looked for the T&C's while I was online, but no link to them strange.

Hi I am considering buying a car on ebay and paying with an intrest free credit card through paypal. Does anyone know if I will be able to receive an interest free on my transaction? I have just got the latest barclaycard with 17 month interest free.
Also will the purchase be treated the same if I buy from a private seller or a delaer?

I have been a PayPal user since the day it launched and I have received and paid $1000s via the site. For the FIRST TIME I was charged a CASH ADVANCE fee by HSBC (House) when I used the card to pay for something I bought on eBay. This was the first time I'd used my House card. Needless to say, it has been removed as my backup card.

CHECK WITH YOU CC PROVIDER BEFORE USING IT ON PAYPAL.

I just confirmed with Virgin Mastercard that if I pay for something I bought off ebay via paypal with the card that it will be treated as a retail purchase and NOT a cash advance. I took the reference number for the call just to be double sure. Please note that it so pay directly for an item and not just to send money to someone from the card. I don't know if the latter would be viewed as a cash advance or not.

Royal Bank of Scotland treat payments from bank accounts through paypal as direct debits. If you don't have funds and try to pay for something by accident, royal bank will charge a penalty for insufficient funds for a direct debit. Once I paid for 3 tiny things in a row and didn't realize I'd made that mistake and it came to charges of over £100 for things worth about £10. RBS wouldn't budge on the charges, loathsome swines. The charges put me over the overdraft limit so they also charged for that and it came to about £130.

I've just been charged a cash advance fee for a PayPal payment using my Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo Mastercard. I've used it many times before with Paypal and never been charged a fee. This was a payment to an online bookmaker, which I believe count as cash advances and thus would have incurred a fee if I had paid directly using my credit card. It seems PayPal have the ability to flag such transactions as cash advances, and therefore liable to the same fees as using the CC directly.

I have just been charged normal retail costs
