P&O Ferry Dover - arrival time

Booked on to the 08:15 ferry from Dover on Thursday. I know it will be busy as start of holiday weekend. Latest we can arrive is 60minutes prior.

Can anyone advise on traffic through Dover to get to the port at around 6.15-6.45am?

Just planning what time to arrive to give ourself time, without leaving home too early.

You need to check on the day. I used to live near there and trust me they can impose operation Brock in a heartbeat. They do it overnight and the M20 will be closed when they do it making getting to Dover much more complicated. However becaise they do it overnight you know if you need to set off early. You can keep an eye on staus here:

As a local it's a pain in the a** this time of year and causes huge disruption for locals, so much so I moved away!

Operation Brock is going into effect this evening with the M20 closed until early morning. This means they are expecting long queues into Dover tomorrow. Avoid the M20 if possible but be aware when the port becomes congested, they will simply move the booking onto the next available one, irrespective of the booking.

The European EES system is supposedly fully in place now, and I believe that is done at Dover. There is potential for long delays if it has been introduced so I would try to find out more about that.

Your advice may help others in future but OP was asking about the anticipated situation for first thing this morning!

Fair comment, but the reality is that nobody can really say from day to day anything more than the OP has surmise - allow extra time.

EES is not in place for those traveling by car through Dover this Easter, if it was it might not be worth travelling at all . It is in place for those travelling by coach, make sure your fingers are clean as otherwise the French supplied fingerprint machines don't work!
