I assume you used money claim online?, and you put your name in the signature box , then yes they are correct

I am afraid that they are correct, you dont have the legal right to act on behalf of your daughter unless you have a legal document like an LPA in place ( a qualified person like a solicitor could have done, like the parking companies use. ) legally you were a stranger to the claim !

Everything should have been done in her name, including the defence submission, using her government gateway account, or her email with her signed defence attached

They are right. You aren't the defendant. Of course it had to be done in the Defendant's name otherwise your Postman (or anyone at the house intent on causing trouble) could have taken a pic of the Claim form and maliciously put in a weak defence.

Expensive lesson. She'd have paid nothing.

What is terrible is that presumably, they don't send an email alerting you 'action needed', etc.

What is also terrible is that they did this quickly, yet leave people with urgent set aside applications waiting months.
