I understand that they also regularly burst into flames as well (really) as well as flip over when being driven and God help you if you hit another vehicle.
They were only banned from UK roads in 2003…..

I would guess most of the more severely disabled, wheelchair users etc are not affected.
Quite disingenuous, I know many wheelchair users who commute to work then are up and down the country at the weekend with their hobby, The mileage limit is going to have a huge impact on a large number of people.

My comment is not meant to be disingenuous. My own contact with wheelchair users/ WAV’s is that their mileage is generally quite low. Obviously you have contact with a different demographic of wheelchair user.

They were withdrawn rather than being banned.

Is this wheelchair users AND WAVS or Wheelchair users OR WAVS ?
I'm a wheelchair user without a WAV and it would affect me - if I used Motability

Yes most of my experience is with people being transported around in a WAV. In this case mileage tends to be on the low side, but I appreciate that will not cover all wheelchair users.

Sadly cost savings have to be made, & mileage limit is a fair one (Don't agree on the 25P though) given the UK average mileage.
Reason is it effects the auction value of cars, although EV's less so, as high mileage has less effect.

@born_again If I was in a wheelchair I wouldn't be able to do my job as I cover more than 10k for my commute. Maybe they need to redefine the eligibility for the vehicles, to those who need adapted vehicles. Extend the years that the car needs to be kept, or a higher premium to those wishing to change every three years - lots of people keep cars longer than 3 years.

I believe the lease length being 3 years is so that Motability doesn't have to MOT the vehicles, which would be an extra cost (not just the MOT itself but arranging it, getting the vehicle there and back, any work needing doing and a retest) they don't currently have.

If the vehicle was over 3 years old when they sell it ( which they would be) then normally it would have to have a MOT.
Would be rare for a 3 year old vehicle nowadays to fail an MOT.
