Fraud question
Someone tried to open or opened a bank account or credit card in my name. I made the bank aware it was not me and it doesn’t show on my credit report.
Today I’ve had a letter saying that a Totally Money (some kind of credit report service) account was fraudulently opened in my name. Obviously I will email them to confirm this was fraud.
How do I get a marker put on my credit file that someone is committing fraud in my name? I think there is a way.
Thanks.

You can request a CIFAS protective registration. Be aware that it slows down your own applications for credit accounts as the providers need to carry out extra checks. You can, however, cancel your registration at any time

you can also put a password on your credit report. I put a password on Experian which the company who was checking would phone and ask for it. My disgusting ex bf then couldn't take out more credit in my name.
