After the Event insurance

I had a civil case that went to court and I won however another judge reversed the decision just under 3 years later and I've been left with a bill of £34,000. My solicitor had After the Event insurance but has been closed down also the finance company dealing with the case has gone into receivership. I don't know where to turn and it looks like I'm going to lose my home. The case was a no win no fee for Japanese knotweed.

    Who was the insurance company?

Are the insurers still in business? (if so, FSCS won't apply).

Was there actually an insurance policy?

So you mean the defendant appealed and you lost the appeal? A judge won't just reverse their decision at a random later point. Even if they admit there may have been flaws in their judgement they simply give you a right to appeal rather than having to petition for an appeal.

Were the insurers spoken to prior to the appeal going to court? Was it actually ATE insurance you had or was it one of the litigation finance options instead that are investor backed rather than insurer?
