I can relate to the first step back is the hardest @Sallyp2 - I inspected some of our bees yesterday. 3 were fine as they are, 2 needed bigger boxes, 1 needed a much smaller box and may yet fail, and 1 other needed more space so now has three boxes for honey. I didn't manage to inspect the last one as it was rather windy and the temperature was dropping (and I ached). They made it very clear they were not in the mood by setting off their alarm pheromone (IPA or Isopentyl acetate) which smells of bananas, trying to recruit others to defend against me. I just put the extra box on, added back the others, closed them up and walked away. I went to two more but just observed. One needed space, the other can wait until it warms a bit more. Two more will need space but that's because I can see crops in flower, - I didn't actually get there. It will be Tuesday before I get there.
The best thing was - no money was spent as the bees took ages. At least two hours fiddle-faddle with equipment before I even left the house!

Its lovely when wholesome work prevents you from spending
i'm potting on tomato seedlings later … don't think we'll get much choice below £4/£5 this summer thanks to Donald. Lots of lovely chunky stemmed rhubard picked & shared with elderly neighbours (way better than the spindly stemmed expensive SM stuff) and delighted to pick very firm hearted cabbage (just left to get on with it since August).

I received a £4.00 gift card yesterday from Sainsbury's because they had not taken nectar discount of my gammon joint at the checkout. So I am taking £4.00 of my signature.
Family have all returned home after our lovely week so we will hopefully be eating left over bits for a while and bringing down our spend for the rest of the month in line with normal!

More food spending today but fruaglish - £2 at community pantry (lots of bread, fruit and veg plus some GF bread and wraps) and £2.75 for a pudding (was more than this but used my nectar points to reduce cost)

fella picked out a golden ticket at work and won a large Easter creme egg … needless to say i've wolfed it on his behalf. The big egg was lovely but the creme egg included was disappointing! Not what i had as a kid

@Sallyp2 - Sorry about the Idiot and his war raising prices all over. Have you ever tried using a tomato you like from the store and planting the seeds? There are several places on YouTube showing how to do it. Good luck with your garden.

I grow the heritage tomatoes we like from seed I collect the previous year. Never so successful with F1 varieties, so I still buy these. Fewer plants this year. 15 plants has left me with enough canned (bottled) passata for two years, going at the current rate of consumption.
We also had chocolate - a large bar of the alpen stuff with the mauve cover (part of a gift from our friends whose dog we looked after last week while they went skiing). All duly consumed ready to go back to the low sugar, low carb summer diet tomorrow. And the aga goes off after today too, so back to meals cooked on a domino gas hob or in the four-way microwave/grill/convection/fan oven (or the barbecue and slow cooker).

morning all
Just been reading through, about a weeks worth. I am going to cancel my O order I have lined up and get my a.. off the chair and go back to shopping at Liddell’ Whilst I love having my food delivered and served the purpose avoiding winter germs, my budget minded head has taken over.
After my last delivery I realised I didn’t have cheese on the order so managed to get a reasonably priced one at the co-op on the way back from the dreaded dentist. Due to this ridiculous cost and the price of fuel escalating I need to make sure our overall annual budget is not overstepped.
We are off to see the rellies at the weekend some 3 hours drive away. Fit this in twice a year. So will have to swallow the expense.
Anyway spent £5 on something else I can’t remember what and £4.50 for the cheese which brings April’s current spending to £78.94
Sorry for the rant
