Parking Eye Ticket

Hi

I recently parked in a car park run by Parking Eye. I went to pay at the machine but it wasn't accepting cash, or as it turned out after a few attempts, cards. I returned to my car to download the required app to pay (Evology), which I did. The app was awful and kept throwing me out and it took a few minutes before I finally managed to set up an account. I paid via the app for two hours parking, returned to the car about ten minutes before the parking expired and left the car park.

Two weeks later I received a 'reminder' about my parking notice, which was a shock as I'd never received an original notice from them. They are saying I entered the car park at 13.30 and left at 15.41 (which I don't dispute) but only paid for two hours parking so I have gone over my time. However, I spent at least 15 minutes trying to pay then downloading the app and setting up my account, all because their own pay machine wasn't working. Effectively they are saying I should have purchased 3 hours parking because it took me so long to pay through no fault of my own - I've never heard of this before.

Can anyone please advise? I appealed the notice but got a reply today saying my appeal has been rejected. The receipt on my Evology account shows me paying for two hours parking at 13.48. I left the car park at 15.41 so thought I was well within my time. Thanks

All advice is in the NEWBIE sticky - have you read it? Where was this car park? Was it a retail centre (shops etc), in which case, Plan A, complain to the principal retailer on the site or find the totem sign and get hold of the landowner agent and complain to them.

And you can appeal then appeal to POPLA with recorded evidence of how long it takes to download the Evology app and saying how long that took. POPLA need evidence so use your phone to record a video of someone else's phone downloading that app at that site.

Also get signage photos while there.

Also get a video if the machine is still not working. Evidence is key. Build it!

Do not get another PCN! Pay for an hour while you do this recce.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks Le_Kirk, no I'm new to this, how do I find the Newbie thread and what's a "sticky"? I'm going back to the car park tomorrow (annoying since it's 30+ miles away). It's a private car park, usually, or previously, used for animal auctions (I think).

Thanks for the advice Coupon-mad, don't want another one while I'm investigating this one!
