0% Credit Card purchasing options

Hi all,

First post. Apologies in advance if this has been asked and answered elsewhere in an earlier thread.

I am looking to apply for a 0% CC to make a purchase of an used car for my child. I am buying it from a private individual and was hoping to move the money from a new CC to him, I guess via a bank transfer or similar. I have a PayPal account - not sure if this helps by perhaps linking a CC to this and paying the individual this way.

Any advice before I make the leap hugely appreciated.

JB

It can't be done without the transaction being treated as a cash advance (don't!).

You need a 0% money transfer, so you can use the cash to purchase the vehicle.

Alternatively you could use the card for regular purchases, and save the money you would have normally spent, and use it to make the purchase. Depends upon the cost of the car and your level of spending, but obviously it would take some time to build up the savings.

As long as the seller was willing to accept payment as Goods & Services via PayPal then it won't be considered a cash advance and you could do it. Dont use the Friends & Family option as some are reporting these are treated as cash.

If you pay with PayPal then the seller will have to pay fees for accepting the monies, legally they shouldn't pass these on to you but you can acknowledge it will cost them and offer to add something on top to cover it.
