John Lewis Returns for bedding
Hi folks,
Does anyone know for certain the policy at John Lewis for returning bedding.
I bought a duvet cover, which I was in 2 minds about, but the assistant said take it home and if you don't like it in your bedroom, you can return it.
I checked their returns policy and bedding is included in the non returnable section. The cover is not in a sealed plastic cover, but just has a band of cardboard around it. I have not opened it at all, just rather looked at the pattern in the bedroom.

Bought in store presumably?
Simply comes down to their policy, ideally look for the same assistant who said you can return it. Online you have statutory rights which is where hygiene seals etc come in place but not in store.

Yes, bought in store, probably a big mistake

If its still completely sealed and original wrapping then I would go back in store and explain the situation.

It wasn't in a sealed bag, just a cardboard sleeve around it. What I am angry about is, the assistant saying I could return it …probably should have checked the terms and conditions

Take it back & try & find the same staff member..

I know the ones you are referring to. I would think there shouldn’t be too much trouble with obtaining a refund/exchange.
It’s going to be apparent to the staff member (who sold it to you or any other), that the duvet cover hasn’t been taken out of the cardboard packaging. If you had unfolded it, it would be a job and a half to fold it back exactly as it was beforehand.

Thank you, think I am going to give customer service a call and explain what happened, I really don't think staff should be saying it can be returned if it can't, & I need some kind of reassurance as the store is 45 miles away

Arent they an offshore third party call centre these days? If venting your spleen helps you then do it but dont expect change.
Personally would take it back to store, if it's not an easy return process then that would be the point to escalate within the in store staff.

I am not sure as never called them before to be honest

A matching pillow case would (by definition) have had the same pattern.
Less outlay for the same task.
