morning everyone chilly but bright here I think we had the same as everyone else yesterday it was definitely a cold one . I really enjoyed the book club last night another couple of newbies it’s a lovely friendly group and the girl who runs it is good fun what started as I will only be an hour is now two hours we have so much to chat about it’s taken me two years but I think I might be starting to like this retirement lark . Ruby I hope things turn out for your DD with the house 🤞Mehefin the brooches are lovely what a nice thought I’m sure they will treasure them. TA I know what you mean I bought some more hangers last week when I was at the charity shop it’s not more hangers I need it’s less stuff . Hope you feel better soon Camelot. DP 1 what a time of it you have had lately I bet you can’t breathe a sigh of relief yet until everything is in place with your parent what a pity they have had to go through all that upset what happened to common sense. Remmie what a fright we don’t go far but we are watching what we use petrol wise although we are watching everything as everything is going up thick and fast I’m really trying to build my savings up as there’s a few things I want doing in the house but it’s slow going. Off to get my eyebrows done soon then I need to come back and clean the kitchen floor and a quick tidy round fish and frozen chips with peas tonight I can’t be bothered to think . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Afternoon all, thanks for today's thread start @Gers.
This morning I woke to a slight frost and bright blue skies; we're promised a dry day with a gentle breeze until later tonight before more rain arrives, top temperatures reaching 9 deg but always feeling a couple of degrees cooler. I've already been out to the Co-op for milk and a couple of other bits and, while it was pleasant in the sun, being in the shade was less so. The flowering currant bush I noticed the other day is now in full bloom and I expect the bees will soon latch on to it.
Last night's Yorkshire puddings were OK but not the best I've ever made - that's what comes of not making them for a while. 😕 The batch of scones however was much more successful. 🙂 Tonight it's Cornish pasty with mash and veg and there's a fresh loaf cooling on the rack.
The NDN who is moving house soon has managed to fall down the stairs (her daft dog got in the way); thankfully nothing more than a broken wrist but obviously it's slowing down her de-cluttering efforts. She's offered me a tall slim chest of drawers if I want it; I think I may take up her offer as I can see it being ideal for storing my crafting stuff.
DS hasn't heard anything back from the job interview he went to the other week but does have another interview next Monday and is attending his first appointment at the Job Centre as we speak. I know he won't get much in the way of benefits but even a small amount is better than nothing, especially as he doesn't have much in the way of savings.
My CT bill arrived this morning and I can now view my occupational pension increase letter online; I'll park those to add to the new annual budget spreadsheet tomorrow. This is the time of year when I get twitchy about finances! My mobile phone provider has now switched off 3G so my phone now only works on 2G but that's fine with me since I only use it for calls and texts; anything online I do on the laptop. I didn't get on with the iPhone I borrowed from DS's ex and returned it when they split up, but I suppose eventually I'll have to look for something a bit more up to date. 🙄
@Ruby - Good luck to your DD with her house hunt. 🤞
@Izzy - Glad you're enjoying the book club and retirement.
Hope everyone has a good day, hugs where needed and a wave to our MIA. Take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
