Travel insurance claim for lost trip days, but no material loss
Dear all,
My wife and I were scheduled to travel by car from the UK to the EU, but on the day of the planned trip the car had a mechanical breakdown, which meant we had to abort the travel on that date. I know we can claim for the additional cost of re-booking the ferry for a new date. The question is, can we claim for those 'lost trip days', if that makes sense? We stay in a friend's house, so there are no 'paid for' days we weren't able to take - it's just the fact that we will have missed on 3-4 days of the trip. I've looked online and such things as 'experiential loss' and 'loss of enjoyment' come up, but I can't really find anything definitive (travel policy doc also doesn't really help clarify the issues).
Thanks in advance.

Have you asked your travel insurer ?
They can give you a definitive answer.

We'd need to see the policy to give a definitive answer, but I doubt it unless there was something specific.

Your policy will only cover what it says it covers, so if there is no section on loss of enjoyment then loss of enjoyment isnt an insured loss.
