My electric bill goes up on 1st of April 2026 as others go down

So I've been a supporter of Martin since his early days on BBC 2….yes I'm old!

All I've heard is that on the 1st of April electric bills are going DOWN…..well not for me unfortunately.

I'm with Home Energy and only have electricity in my home. I've received details that my unit rate and daily standing charge will rise on the 1st of April and this seems like a joke as everyone else is reducing following the government intervention.

Unit rate 20.57p rising to 20.99p

Daily standing charge 57.59p rising to 64.19p

This doesn't sound a big increase but as I used around 7000kw of electricity a year and Martin reassuringly saying prices for everyone, even those on fixes would reduce I feel shafted!

Is anyone else seeing their electricity bills rise on 1st of April ?

Thanks in advance

Grant

The price cap is going down, but you appear to be well below that already so there's room for your bills to move both ways. No one has ever said all bills will go down, its just based on the average user on a capped tariff.

Also don't forget prices will be going down for almost everyone on 01 April due to the government policy changes at the last budget. That probably hasn't been factored into the numbers above.

Plenty of other suppliers out there if you feel youre getting a raw deal.

Have you considered what other suppliers would charge if you changed?

    Current Unit rate: 26.44 p / kWh

    New Unit rate: 22.93 p / kWh

Yours is still lower, but my standing charge is lower than yours, which isn't changing: 43.66 p / day

I'm mainly electric too with octopus

    Hello Woodstok

The prices I quoted were from the 1st of April and rising while everyone else goes down, exactly as you said following government policy.

The rate I'm on is good but the point being everyone is telling us from the 1st of April prices reduce but mine goes UP 😞
