Holiday Refund from Lastminute.com

I had a flight and hotel package booked for Dubai. We couldn't go due to the Iran War. The FCDO advised us not to fly. After a lot of hassle lastminute.com finally agreed to giving us a refund, however this was for £400 less than what we paid for the holiday. On enquiring, I was told that they were unable to get a full refund from the providers, and that they had refunded me everything they were able to get. The provider we found out after further enquiries was the hotel. I'm now trying to get the rest of my refund from the hotel, but shouldn't lastminute.com give me this regardless?

If you booked a flight and hotel through an agent then it may not have been a package holiday as such.

As the accommodation was probably still available for use then you will be subject to whatever agreement is in place between your agent and the hotel regarding refunds.

You did not have a direct contract with the hotel.

You need to check whether you had a package holiday booked with Last Minute. I know they do them from previous experience when I got a full refund when the airline booked went out of business. Sadly it doesn't sound like what you bought. 🤔

As above, sounds as if it's not a full package holiday.

hey, what did you say to Lastminute to get the refund? And did you contact them via live chat?

I booked a package holiday with them for Dubai in May however I don’t see the FCDO advice changing by then (even if flights are expected to still go ahead)
