I forgot to mention that so far, I’ve only paid a deposit to Lastminute. They are due to take the remaining amount next week as it’ll be one month before I fly out. Not sure if I can do anything?

It depends on your contract terms, but typically you will need to pay a significant chunk of the remaining balance if you cancel within 70 days.
The standard terms are:
You will have to pay the cancellation charges as follows:
- More than 70 days: loss of Deposi
- From 69 to 43 days: 50% of holiday cost
- From 42 to 29 days: 70% of holiday cost
- From 28 to 14 days: 90% of holiday cost
- Less than 14 days: 100% of holiday cost

thanks for this. Just seen that Emirates have now updated their website to say anyone who has a booking up until 31st May, can now claim a refund. This means we will probably be able to get refund for the flight but not sure about the hotel element. Do you think it’s worth me asking for a refund from Lastminute package now. Or still wait till closer to the travel

definitely ask them. Now that emirates has changed their policy, last minute may follow suit.

Do you think I should wait about two weeks before I’m due to fly + do you think I can still use FCDO advice as the main reason for a full package refund (even though, this can change in the next few weeks after?)
