Black box insurance dilemma with a New Driver & a learner (twins)
It's likely that one of our twins will soon require car insurance as a full licence holder, but the car they'll use will be the same one that we'll continue to use for private driving practice for their sibling (probably for at least a few more months). Both of the kids are currently covered by a learner driver policy.
I'd planned to try & take out a black box policy in an effort to keep the cost down, however I'm now realising that this may be a flawed plan, if we continue to use the same car for both drivers, as I am not clear if the box will be able to distinguish between the two of them & if the learner driving activities will potentially have an impact on the new drivers insurance going forward. Also, we (the parents) also both use the car regularly - but that's less of an issue (I think!)
Hope that makes sense & any advice / thoughts are appreciated - thanks.

Black box is not always cheaper.

This was a reason we didn't entertain black box policy for our daughter's car. Working out how they work, restrictions, potential issues when car sharing etc put it in the "not for us" box.
She sorted a normal policy with two other named drivers,1
