Car fault apparent after 3 weeks
I bought a car from a dealer for £2.8k and it seemed fine around town and up to 50mph on the bypass. Spent £150 on new battery, filter, lights.
3 weeks later I took it on holiday on the motorway and it was only over 70mph that the fault became apparent. It went into limp mode along with some other faults.
First took it back to the dealer within the first 4 weeks, they had it for a week and fixed all of the issues bar going into limp mode. Took it back and they've now had it 2 weeks struggling to fix the turbo fault and saying it will cost too much to replace the turbo. Does this mean I'm past the 30 days right to reject the car?
I would prefer to keep the car but it's not roadworthy and the garage hasn't fixed the fault yet so I want a headache-free resolution. Had I bought it second hand without the dealer premium I would have just taken it to an Audi specialist and sucked up the cost and risk that I took buying second hand.
What are my options to resolve the issue if the dealer cannot properly fix the fault?

The clock stopped when you reported the fault.

This is your best option. Perhaps the dealer you bought it from will make a contribution.

The clock stops when you report the fault, so the dealer either needs to fix it, or refund you (with a deduction for usage) or you can agree a new reduced price. So if you really want the car, and can get an estimate to have it fixed by audi, maybe you could come to an arrangement.

Couldn't resist...if this was in the UK then by driving lawfully you'd have remained blissfully ignorant of the fault. 😁

I was basically sold a car with a faulty engine component which results in the car once in limp mode, struggling to go above 30mph on steep uphill 60mph roads. The fault appeared in the first 100 miles of ownership. I think it is unfair for a dealer to sell unroadworthy as I've effectively paid a premium for what would be somewhat worthless spares or repairs if I were to put it up for sale in this condition which would leave me around £2k down.
I'd estimate it could cost £600-1.5k to fix at a specialist so knowing consumer rights and how to resolve it could hopefully save me from this situation.
I'm even more annoyed that I only bought this car as my main car has been in the garage for nearly 3 months being refurbed to pass the MOT🤦

A £2800 car is modern banger territory, what exact model is it, age, mileage and any history?

You can't make them fix the car if they decide it would be uneconomic for them so I would guess the most likely outcome will be that they end up offering a refund. NB The thirty day counter stopped when you told the garage about the issues.

The choice or refund or repair is theirs, not yours. I'd take the refund. I once wanted to keep a vehicle, the dealer wanted to refund, I thought if I had it repaired I could take them to court for the cost.
I was wrong, I lost.

That is a big price range.
At worst case 50% of what you paid for the car & never get back.
Take the refund & look for something else.
3 months in a garage to get through a MOT, that must be some special car.😶🌫️
