PAYE & NI POTENTIAL FRAUD
Absolutely sick of HMRC not dealing with this matter. Brief history number if years ago husband got tax bill against PAYE records of working with a company we have never heard of - to cut a long story short after of about one year going back and forth with HMRC they said it was a case of a mis-matched NI number, fast forward to 2024 same thing has happened again, we now have an online personal tax account so logged in and see that our address has been changed, again same company has been put as my husbands employment, managed to change address online, complained to HMRC records were updated, this particular company was removed from the PAYE record, incidentially there are two tax refunds sitting on the system, presumably for this other person which we could just click and claim, advised HMRC but they don't want to know. Today we have an email to say tax code has changed so logged in low and behold the same stuff has happened again, address has changed, current employment (which happens to our own company) has been ended and again the other company added. Have managed to change address back but it kept defaulting to todays date so left it at that as long as the correspondence comes to us, also went and removed the other employment but that takes about 15 days to take affect. I am trusted helper online but if I need to call HMRC hubby has to be in the room but he goes to work early so have to wait to call them, but I might just call them anyway.
The correspondence address is a french restaurant in Milton Keynes which I am tempted to phone up or contact the employment is an agency which I have an address for and potentially an email address but can't find a contact number. This cannot be a mis-matched NI, the person is using my husbands name to work.
I am currently drafting a letter to HMRC yet again until I can phone them - I might just phone them anyway and see if I can get to speak to anyone. Anyone been in same boat what do you suggest! Shall I contact the two places? thanks for reading I know its long….

HMRC PAYE cannot do anything. They receive notification of the information for that NI number and act on it.
You need to report it per the link below
