Washing Machine Rejection Advice Please

The drum is actually larger than the one it replaced. I don't know if it is a single load causing the problem or an accumulation of water in the tray across the week's washing?

I beg to differ. When the items are transferred to a different machine to finish the wash while sorting out the error, they wash perfectly.

Thank you for your balanced comments. We have a large capacity commercial machine for horse rugs so anything large goes in there. It is just so frustrating to have a recurring issue.

Ah so not a domestic washer.
Was this bought as a business purchase.
This makes a lot of difference. Really would have helped if this was in OP.

Yes, it is a domestic washer - the other comment was to say anything large goes in the big machine not the domestic washing machine which is giving problems.

i would run the machine empty to see if the problem happens.
If so, then it cannot be an unbalanced load. Which, incidentally IO have never experienced with any washing machine i have had
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

I think this whole "unbalanced load" thing is a distraction by the manufacturer to pretend that the machine isn't leaking.
If you're washing heavy cottons, such as towels, you will get unbalanced loads. Any half decent machine will detect the shaking, stop the spin cycle, tumble the clothes a bit, then try again. I have known my machine take several attempts before it's happy and completed a spin cycle.
The machine is 15 years old, and I have never had to empty any water out of the base.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.3 -
Unbalanced loads are usually caused by a single very absorbent single item such as one very large towel, or the machine being overloaded. I have never had an issue washing clothes, towels etc. when sensibly loading the machine.

What do you mean by a "flood alert"? I've never heard of such a thing and it certainly isn't covered in the manual of my current Bosch washing m/c.
And does your m/c's manual really advise you (a domestic consumer) to tip the m/c back to empty it of water when you get a flood alert?
The only time(s) I've had to empty a m/c of water I've done it via the drain hose as per the manual. Never had to tip it back or to the side or to the front.
What my m/c's manual does cover is an error code E23 - "There is water in the base plate, the appliance is leaking. Turn off the tap. Call the after-sales service!"
What does your m/c's manual say about a "flood alert"? Does it advise tipping it back to empty it?
(what is your m/c? can you link to the manual?)
Regarding an unbalanced load, unlike most of the other people who have contributed to this post we frequently get unblanced loads, but the m/c should be designed to cope with that.
On ours the manual specifically deals with this problem: "The automatic unbalanced load detection system detects imbalances and ensures even distribution of the laundry by repeatedly starting and stopping the drum spinning. If the laundry is extremely unevenly distributed, the spin speed is reduced or the spin cycle is not performed for safety reasons.Note: Place large and small items of laundry evenly in the drum."
I wonder if other people have an unbalanced load they aren't aware of because their m/c automatically corrects it?
But even if you have an unbalanced load I don't understand how it is causing the problem you are experiencing…
[We had to have our m/c freestanding out in the middle of the kitchen floor for a couple of weeks last year. On at least two occasions it moved about 6 inches because of an unblanced load]
