basically the item travels with normal mail.
so for an average postie.he/she finishes thier duty and goes to the nearest post office.
they hand over these items mostly in a blue pouching off pouch, however larger packets wont fit and these go loose.
after that its in the hands of the mail gods. for example we had a lod of packets not come back for a week.couldnt understand it until they came back.
they had been missorted onto a trolley going to jersey!! so obviously had to make the journey back.
people often say where is my item but i/we honestly cannot say.
our local mail centre turns over 1 million+ items per day so we cant just phone up and ask them to look for it
all the postie can do is give an estimate given they are relying on the rest of the system getting the items back.0 -
We are still getting mail which was posted before christmas so there must be a backlog somewhere. On the plus side, we had a sunday delivery last weekend. So steps are being taken to clear it.0

as ive said our office has been running masses of overtime.
we got back on a level standing yesterday with masses of guys in doing sunday deliveries.
however OT is optional so if an office doesnt have many willing to do OT then it will struggle.
