Looking for breakdown cover that has flexible policy

I'm with 2Gether breakdown cover and my national breakdown cover only includes a local garage.

I want cover where if I breakdown 100 miles from home (for example) then I can be towed anywhere of my choice, home! and then if it's a Sunday and I can't arrange a garage then they can tow me home then re-tow to my nearest garage the next day.? If the latter part doesn't exist then how can a garage be a arranged on a Sunday and whether they can actually fix it anyway?

Get to know a decent garage. If my car broke down I would have towed to my mechanic and drop it off at the door and text a note of apology. (Of course in first instance I would try and contact them first). Might cost me a few donuts to keep everyone sweet.

I suspect most breakdown companies will not be too keen to recover twice, you can only ask them or read the T&Cs carefully.

Most large breakdown services will offer some form of national recovery. The AA, green flag and RAC all do this, and will take you, your passengers and car to any UK destination. If the garage is close enough to your home they'll drop you there and take the car to the garage. You won't find many (if any) policies with double recovery.

    The T&C are all important.

    The wording is the killer.

AA, RAC from memory state, taken to a local garage if open, or taken to destination if closed.

Others state at our discretion. That’s the killer.

RAC did that for my sister who broke down on a weekend, towed her home and then
came back Monday morning to tow the car to the garage.

They even towed her home once when she had to pull over when a sudden migraine attack started.

At first they wanted her to see a doctor but she was in the middle of nowhere with kids in the car
and I had to say do we really need to get an ambulance called when we know it's a migraine that
she needed to sleep off. They relented and towed her home.

Other than that we have found the RAC to be quite good, I left them because they wanted £220 for
policy I was paying sub £130 for and I could get the same package with GreenFlag for under £120.
