TSA, they're another breed entirely. An organisation set up to display to the travelling public that the US is "combatting terrorism" to use the words of GWB (idiot) ! What a joke :rotfl:

You can hardly exepct them to be very cheerful though when they're on the minimum wage and have to stand around for 10 hours at a time looking as if they're interested in what they're doing.
These people, though providing so called 'front line' defence of the US are the least educated of US society and are in their respective jobs because of a lack of any other prospect of employment, mind you if they do well they can always move up the employment ladder and get a job with McDonalds, KFC, Burger King etc after all most of their day is spent sampling the not so deliteful food of the said establishments !
  • I have to say, the worst airport I have been to in terms of how confusing it is has to be OR Tambo International (Johannesburg) we had to get a domestic flight from Durban to Jo'burg, followed the signs for the international departures (we were flying onto Dubai) and literally ran around in one big circle.

Then we had to enter into what could only be described as a huge warehouse, absolutely CHOCCA with people (think cattle market) people were rude and we had to queue for a ridiculously long time to get through security. Although once you are through that it's not too bad :D

Best airport I have ever been to... has to be Gatwick.
Was debt free... then went travelling!

Miami International is far from the worst airport. I think Ninoy Aquino in Manila Philippines is one of the worst, top ten at least. The worst part about that is that according to my Philippino friend, they're sitting on a much nicer airport, but it's just gathering dust because they're in court with the german company that built it because the company is suing to get back the money they paid out in bribes! Hilarious but sad.

Without doubt the worst airport ever.

Terminal 3 is due to open anytime now, its being geared up to receive 6 PAL flights a day, while all the other international airlines still struggle to use Terminal 1. PAL of course has a monopoly at Terminal 2.

There is no transport link to the airport (unless you risk a jeepney with a suitcase.) When you arrive you have to use the airport taxi's (at approx 6 times the current metered taxi fare.) Or walk out to main road and risk hailing a cab.

As a frequent flyer (in economy class), when I fly from Manchester or Amsterdam, it takes from arriving at the airport to being in the departure lounge approx 20 minutes if I'm unlucky, Manila is the only airport that I will arrive 3 hours before departure and still worry that I'll be late.
    You queue everywhere.
Queue to get in the building
Queue for initial security x-ray and check
Queue for check-in (I skip this as a frequent flyer)
Queue for security again to leave the departure hall
Queue for Airport User Tax Booth
    Queue for Immigration
Queue For 2nd Security x-ray and check (this one is more thorough.)

My wife whio is a Filipino also has to queue to pay her airport departure tax before check-in

Without a shadow of a doubt its the worst airport anywhere in SE Asia even Bangkok's newish airport is better.

We had an "interesting" experience in Montego Bay airport, Jamaica. There were three baggage carousels, and luggage from all incoming flights was randomly put on whatever carousel had most space at the time. In addition to this, as the carousels filled up, luggage was removed from them, and placed on the floor in the middle of the arrivals area. Our bags could have been anywhere, and not necessarily together!!!

Laughable now, but a very stressful start to a holiday!

The one thing i remember about Miami was the temporary car hire drop off place....after a storm the freeways were packed and it took us 2 hours to find the place, round and round and round again...we were on the verge of abandoning the vehicle and walking, arguing, shouting etc...
It was advertised by a little wooden triangle on a sign, like you might find on a English campsite directing to the toilets. Still makes me shudder thinking about it.
