Lloyds Bank/Equiniti
Hi All,
My Mum died back in 2021 in Scotland. Administration of the estate was done via a solicitor, and all wrapped up just over a year(!) later.
However I've just received a letter from Lloyds Banking Group saying that a "payment" in has been made within the last 12 months. It's only for £4.63, but I'd rather get this squared away.
Anyone have any idea what this could be related to, or the best way to get this "account" closed down?
Redacted letter:
Many Thanks!

She probable has a small number of Lloyds shares from way back.

I had a similar problem with Equiniti and a Royal Dutch Shell dividend paid to my late father. It took me about 3 years to persuade them to donate the dividend to charity (it was held in euros and I had no way of cashing the cheque). A further year until they stopped e-mailing me 'statements'. They are a nightmare to deal with.

It's probably a dividend paid after the shares were sold - "account closing statement … closing balance of shares 0" - and Equiniti doesn't know where to transfer it - "…provide new valid bank account details, any outstanding payments will be released to you…"

The closing balance of shares is 0, so I don't think it's that. The solicitors had them sell the lot (I remember we had to fill in a form for it).
Would it really be a dividend this long after administration was completed back in 2022?
Obviously I'm not interested in jumping through hoops for peanuts, but I'd rather not receive mail relating to my late Mum for the rest of my life.
JGB1955 - any tips on dealing with them?

Dividends can sit with the registrar for years if unclaimed.

This is the first letter we've (me and my sister) have received in relation to this. It does say that it's payments within the last 12 months.

Call and ask. It says the share balance is zero so once you've cleared this up I doubt you'll hear any more.

I managed to get hold of someone on the ShareView online chat, and they've changed the bank details from the solicitors from back in 2021(!) to mine, and will pay it out to me.
If I wanted it to go to charity directly, I'd have had to send a letter signed by me and my sister (who doesn't live locally), so didn't go down that road.
A lot less hassle than I was expecting to be honest.
