Refund of postage costs
Hopefully a quick one, I ordered an item from Very and paid £5.99 next day delivery. Within a few minutes I attempted to cancel the order and the system didn't allow it. I refused delivery of item and it went back to Very. I have been refunded less £5.99 and am trying to find out what the rules are for refunding when delivery was unsuccessful. Thanks

Why did you cancel the order within a few minutes? You left that bit out.

Was the £5.99 standard postage or did you pay extra for the next day delivery?

There was free standard delivery 3-5 days, next day was £5.99, this selection also made it so I couldn't cancel the or
There was free next day delivery 3-5 working days, £5.99 was next day which is also the reason stated it couldn't be cancelled

Doesn't matter.
When you cancel and return an order within 14 days they have to refund everything except any additional postage above the standard postage. i.e. they have to refund the value of the item and the standard postage - which in this case is £0.
IF the item was lost in the post, or misdelivered etc - then they'd have to refund the postage too, but in this case you refused delivery.

Hmm.If I ordered something and then cancelled it "within minutes", this would likely have been my own mistake and if my own mistake costs me £6, I would suck it up as my fault.
Clearly not everyone is the same….

Delivery wasn’t unsuccessful. It was delivered but you refused delivery and sent it back.

If acceptance hadn’t occurred OP is due a full refund.
Have to check the terms for that one.
