Thanks I didn't mean a trust - I just meant for example specifying an annuity (or similar) is bought

We have no children (we're a similar age to you) and after our deaths we've left everything in equal shares to our nieces and nephews. We've taken the view that it's absolutely up to them what they do with the dosh as & when they get it. We're not going to be around to care so if any of them decide they want to p*ss it up a wall it's up to them! 😊

A trust is the only way to do it

Keep_pedalling is right:
Because once you're dead, it's impossible for YOU to enforce what happens once someone has received their inheritance from you, and if you're not enforcing it then someone else has to do so.
Plus, what if "an annuity (or similar)" turns out to be a really bad idea when the time comes?
