Toilet door advice please.

Am i understanding it wrong, isn’t that the purpose of a two way hinge, it can open both ways which would support in opening outwards if there was a fall internally?

The toilet is next to the stairs and a bathroom door so nowhere for the sliding door to go.

The issue have is the door is 710 mm wide and some of the doors I have seen are 726mm or larger and say you can only trim 10 - 15 mm off the sides.
At risk of asking an obvious question, can you trim 10-15mm off both sides or only one side? Because you only need to trim 8mm off each side to achieve the result you need.
To be honest if there's a door at a good price that says you can trim it by 15mm total and you need to remove 16mm I'd probably be tempted to have a go before I'd resort to other solutions that could potentially be much more difficult and expensive.
And a final thought – can you not rehang the existing door to open outwards (or pay a carpenter to do so)? That's what we did.

Also (sorry, me again!) have you looked at solid timber doors? You can often trim much more off them, and in the past I found them to be available in more nonstandard sizes.

As mentioned B4 the current door is warped at the bottom part so if I hang it to open out there may protrude by 15mm and would make it hard to close and lock.
As for trimming I don't know.
I have seen yt vids where the door needs shortening where they cut off the bottom part and then put back the wood at the bottom and that will only work for a flush door. Only mentioning as I did say current door is 1910mm high so would need to shorten a new door to fit.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yes I have started to look at them also.

Does he live alone? Does he have many visitors? Would it be possible to remove the door entirely for his own safety, could you maybe hang a shower curtain instead of the door. I recognise it's not ideal but you don't want to be in a situation where he falls and no one can get to him.

Is this on the ground floor? Worst case someone would take the window out.
