Dug out some brambles yesterday and found these white grubs. Are they vine weevils?

White with a brown head usually but Farway will be along in the morning. He's the expert.

They could be Leather Jackets - daddy longlegs - which I found when digging up my lawn. Undisturbed ground like your brambles.

I left them out for the birds.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Thanks both. I'm about to plant a shrub close by and didn't want to get it wrong. I've recently removed a hibiscus which was originally in a pot and not happy, so planted it in the ground where it wasn't happy either, so have dug it out and ditched it. We'd had it about 5 years and the rootball was no bigger than it had been in the pot it was bought. It clearly didn't like us, as there are lots of them in the locality. I've just bought a sorry looking photinia Pink Crispy from the garden centre which was half price and clearly overlooked by others. We already have one of these and know how nice it could look with some TLC. Will put that in where the hibiscus was.
