Energy Consumption Reduction excercise

Just for fun, here's a typical representation of my half-hourly electricity usage, in case anyone was in doubt as to just how expensive electric showers are to run. No gas here, but a log burner for when it gets too cold
You can see, in addition to the appetite of the 9.5kW shower, the cost of using the wall-mounted fan heater to defrost the bathroom before and after the actual wet bit. Television and supper preparation start at 19:00, and the electric blanket gets switched on at 22:00.
I'm not being lazy ...

It shows how expensive they can be if you are profligate. A 6 minute shower at 9kW would be only 0,95kWh, much less than the 2.2kWh your graph shows.
My shower has 7kW and 3.5kW settings; on average over the year I'm showering at ~5.5kW, so 0.55kWh for an average shower. I find this to be perfectly adequate.

I put the wall mounted fan heater on for the duration and do a lukewarm 2min wet, lather and rinse navy shower on off peak rate. All done and dusted in less than 5 mins and no steam to clean up afterwards.
