Paying Road Tax Early
One of our vehicles is due to for renewal of road tax on 1st May. I understand that this can be paid two months in advance.
To avoid the increases in April, I've considered paying this today (yup, I know it's just an additional £5)
When attempting to do so online today (using the V5C), the DVLA website indicates that the car will be taxed from 1st March.
This has confused me. Would we lose 2 month of road tax or would we get a full 12 months, post 1st May?

You can only renew two months in advance if you have an Extremely Good Reason.
(Trying to dodge a tax increase isn't one 😁, being in Sierra Leone for the next 6 months is.)
You have to apply by post
Otherwise you can only renew inside the month before the new tax starts.
