French Ranch Cooker

Hi all,

I’m hoping someone might be able to offer some advice or experience with an older range cooker.
I have a Forneaux Morice Marengo gas range cooker (in the UK), but the main oven has recently been disabled after it produced a high carbon monoxide (CO) reading.

Before it was shut off, the oven flame would start blue but then turn yellow after a short time. The hob is still working fine.
I understand Forneaux Morice are no longer trading, so I’m struggling to find brand-specific information or support.Has anyone:

• Owned or worked on a Forneaux Morice cooker
• Had a similar issue with a gas oven (yellow flame / high CO)?
• Found parts or engineers familiar with these types of French range cookers?
I’m based in Blackpool if that helps.
Any advice or pointers would be really appreciated — I’d much rather repair it than replace it if possible.

Thanks in advance

We used to have a range cooker, not that brand though. We struggled to find anyone to fix it. We ended up getting in touch with Domestic and General who basically said if we take out a years cover with them they'll fix the oven under that cover. To be fair, the years cover was no more than we'd have expected to pay to get an engineer out anyway, so we did. We actually kept it going for a few years after as well and it probably paid off just about. Certainly saved us the hassle of finding someone to fix it. Their engineers were good and arranging repairs was straight forward. Worth a shot.
