Found old Unit Trust certificates (person has died)

Hi there,

I have found 2 Unit Trust certificates (Pearl Unit Trusts) in my mum's name - she died 5 years ago. I have no idea what these are and how to proceed if there is a monetary value to them. It seems that Pearl Unit Trusts no longer exist. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Pearl ultimately became part of Phoenix Life, so that's where to start your activity.

Edit: wrong part of the business, ignore.

Do they have specific names? Generally, a quick Google suggests contacting Phoenix Life, part of Standard Life plc (recently changed its name from Phoenix Group plc).

The unit trust management business — Pearl Unit Trusts Limited — changed its name to Henderson Unit Trusts Ltd in April 2005 It is now Janus Henderson Fund Management UK Limited following the Janus/Henderson merger in 2017.

This is completely separate from Phoenix Life, which took on the Pearl life and pension policies.

Certificates ceased to be required over 20 years ago and were replaced with account numbers and statements. So, they could have been sold without the certificates.

Have you found any records under Henderson or Janus Henderson?

Thank you. I haven't found anything under either of those company names. My mum may have sold them. Is it worth me contacting Janus Henderson Fund Management UK Limited?
