Cancer Support

My son is 36yo, lives alone and works from home full time. A few years ago he had radiotherapy treatment for cancer around his throat and sinuses which left him with no sense of smell, slight visual problems, and issues with his teeth (among a few other minor things). He has to have a special toothpaste on prescription for the rest of his life and he has to follow a strict teeth cleaning regime every day to keep them as healthy as possible. Nevertheless he still gets constant dental problems and treatment has cost him thousands of pounds over the last few years. Is there any financial help he can get for dental treatment as this is a lifetime condition and I can foresee it costing thousands in the future? Thank you.

Outside of the dental issues the OP mentions a few minor problems which on the face of it would not qualify for PIP. Ongoing dental issues would not fall under the criteria if other help with nutrition is not required.
All other available financial help is in income related.
Could he get a referral to an NHS dental hospital?

Otherwise it’s the usual looking to see if the union(if part of one) has any sort of support fund, or grants that might be relevant which is probably a bit of a forlorn hope in the current economic environment.
