Accidently painted my living room black
Was trying to go for a grey and picked this colour https://www.diy.com/departments/goodhome-walls-ceilings-princeton-matt-emulsion-paint-5l/3663602401353_BQ.prd
But instead it looks black. I'm hoping once it dries it becomes more like the colour on the tub. Luckily the carpet I'm getting is a very light shade of grey so it won't feel like a prison cell at least. I'm also going to get one of those LED light strips and run it around the entire perimeter of the ceiling so it gives off a nice calm white light.
I think it'll be alright?

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but when you started painting and realised it maybe not the coiyou thought it would why didn't you stop?
If I wasn't sure of the colour I would of finished 1 wall and let dry and then checked it the next day and if happy carried on or get another colour and not waste my time doing the whole room.

It didn't look that dark when I first started, the first wall looked ok to be honest. Then as I did the other walls I think it just made the whole thing look very dark.
I don't hate it, I think once the carpet is in and everything is setup how I want it, it'll look better. At the moment when I look at it I just see nothing very dark walls, but once all the furniture is in, stuff on the walls, light strip, carpet etc it will break up the solid dark colour I'm seeing.

Doesn't even look close to black to me.

Now it's starting to dry a bit it's becoming lighter, I'll post an update once it's dried in about 24 hours.

Paint usually dries much lighter, so wait a day or so to decide.
Regardless, I'd personally repaint while you're in painting mode - I painted a room almost that exact colour about a decade ago and the room always felt like a cave, even despite my efforts contrasting with light décor.
I wouldn't personally paint a room a dark colour again, it's too hard to pull off well.
Know what you don't0 -
I was planning to do my bedroom the same colour, instead I'm going to just do it the same cream colour as the hallway.

Anyway grey is a bit passe, after being all the rage for so many years.
Back to Magnolia 😀

We always test the paint on a small patch on the wall to see if it's the colour we want, it's an easy way to avoid this

It actually looks like the colour on the tub to me. Its certainly a bold colour choice that will require lights on on even the brightest day.

I had magnolia in my old flat in every room and honestly I felt like I was living in a hospital. The cream / beige colour I've gone for is a bit nicer I think https://www.diy.com/departments/lick-beige-02-matt-emulsion-paint-2-5l/5060756110052_BQ.prd
Will test it out before painting the entire bedroom though.
