With regards traffic updates Navman do a traffic module which runs off radio updates. As suhc there's no subscription cost. Know this was out for the icn520 but would imagine it's available for new models as well.matched betting: £879.63

I've done lots of searches re Sat Navs and want one with UK maps and bluetooth handsfree plus speed camera info and live traffic updates...but can't find out the following and would be really grateful for some info:
1) is the Garmin Nuvi 310D a good deal at Halfords for £199.99 (previously £269.99)
2) From what I can make out... and there are so many different deals at the moment I'm completely confused... I will need to pay a subscription for speed camera info and possibly live traffic updates as well. Can anyone tell me how much these subscriptions will be please?
3) Are there any other ongoing costs, e.g updating maps and, if so, how much will these be?
I don't want to go for the cheapest Sat Nav only to find it is the most expensive subscriptions and updates!

Any comments on the TomTom 720 traffic, was it mentioned in the which reports?
Don't know whether to get the 720 or 720Traffic.Helfords had them for a good price online, but not sure how long it will last.

Not that I recall, most comments were given for the 520 Trafffic as it has only UK mapping, the 720 T includes European mapping which will have stronger selling power should you sell it IMO"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -

Thank you SO much for the info Nytehawk. Please could I trouble you further by asking, what is the best price you've found for the Garmin 660 ?“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Thanks Nytehawk. Wonder why which didn't cover the 720. I'll see what halfords say about it, since they've got it on offer online. I also did some more searching on MSE and noticed that people have had problems when updating software on the 520 and something about backups.

I've got the Nuvi 310D and its a good satnav. But there are newer models now which offer more features for similar money. Go for either Garmin or Tomtom both have pro's/con's but equally capable for your requirements.
Is there a reason you want one with the standard width screen(3.5")? If not there is the Garmin NUVI 710T for £220(handtec) or the Tomtom 520T for £185(amazon). (The Nuvi 710T(UK maps) and 760T(Europe maps) are the newer versions of the NUVI 610 and 660).
Both models come with everything you need and a TMC RDS traffic receiver which gives you free traffic updates, its not a perfect traffic system but it works most of the time. As 'uktyler' says pocketgpsworld is the best for speed cameras.
Personally i'd go for the Tomtom 720T for £205, comes with Europe maps for an extra £20 more than the 520T, newer know when you might need them!!
Nytehawk, have you looked at the NUVI 760T, new model to the 660FM, its £250 at Handtec here.

2. Panasonic Strada £249.99 Recently introduced with a 5" screen and has similar qualities and goodies to my favourite which is 3. Garmin 660FM £259 - £400 The priceless user feedback from this unit has almost priced it out of the ccompetitive market and that is why it's so difficult to pick up at a good price"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway????
