I got a couple of quotes from so called tradesmen on Nextdoor site, 1 for groundwork and 1 for decoration of a rental house.
The ground worker was useless I fired him off the job after 4 hrs work, as for the 2 decorators who turned up late because the No10 bus was late. And wanted me to supply the paint brushes, rollers etc. . They got fired off within 10 minutes.
There’s lots of scammers on that next door site, and will only take cash.

If you are calling plumbers they may also be fully qualified gas engineers with the right tickets to do gas safe work so they will charge more.
For basic water pipe plumbing work you don't need a fully qualified gas safe approved individual. A friend does everything from handyman repairs to full bathroom and kitchen installs, he isn't gas safe approved but charges about £350 a day.0 -
it's pot luck but I did ask numerous people on there who used him for their feedback before using him myself.
