Is my Land Registry Charge CH1 valid

We took out a local authority Housing Renewal Loan in 2011 which was secured against our property with a Land Registry Charge. Health reasons have led us to want to move home however the Charge on our property has become an issue. The council are claiming an amount far in excess of the amount stated on the charge and the charge itself has been altered after it was signed by us. The loan was never completed and we have no loan agreement, the council has failed to provide us with a copy. Is this charge valid?

Ask your solicitor. I don't think some random people on the internet will know.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

This is basically a DIY forum, so not the right place for this legal problem.

I’ll move this to the housing board.

The charge is most likely valid - the amount owed is likely to be dependent on the agreement you signed etc.
