Motorfinity prices too good to be true

Hi

I am looking to buy a new car and the offers from Motorfinity are significantly better than others we have received. What have peoples experiences been with them in terms of ordering and aftercare

Thanks

Generally these Motorfinity deals are only open to the likes of public sector workers, like NHS staff, teachers, military etc.

There are usually offered by the manufacturer and/or their finance arms. So some require you to take the finance, others don't or the discount might reduce or disappear if you pay cash.

Discounts depend on what they want to move, can change quite frequently and are available via different routes. Motorfinity is just one, there are other companies that can arrange cars with similar deals like Motor Source and you can just ask the dealers direct.

I have never dealt with Motorfinity myself but have with Motor Source and direct with a couple of dealers (Abarth, Fiat and Renault).

You have to prove you qualify, some use things like NHS assignment numbers, others want to see a Blue Light Card that you have to apply for.

I aim to find deals with around 20% off and if I have to take the finance to get them, I just pay it off in the first month.

I've helped friend's buy car for the last 8/10 years.

Motorfinity are just giving discounts to a select group, ie Nurse, Doctor's etc.

    Ordering and aftercare.

Both issues will not be with Motorfinity.

They order from a list of dealers, So if delayed they will point you at the dealer, same for issues with the car after delivery.

Brokes are ok, not just to use but to get quotes from and then hit local dealer over the head with.

To price match, or beat the offer.

    Brokers.

    Select under outright purchase

    Look in car deals

The last 2 car purchased were from Autotrader adverts, Both brand new but thousands off list price.

An MGS5 was 11k cheaper than list price.

Why not Tell us the car, make, colour, etc you want.

Then see if anyone can find you a better deal.

    Just one example.

Citroen E-C3 Max. Autotrader listing is £2333.00 cheaper for the same car than Motorfinity.

That is without going in branch and having a good haggle.

Se if finance gives a discount, then if you can pay it off the day the car is delivered.

Yes it's worth shopping around and keeping an open mind when it comes to choice, but there's no catch to these schemes, if you qualify, that's what you pay.

Motorfinity don't list Honda's but Motor Source do and you can have up to £6500 off a Jazz through them. At the moment. It's the top trim that gets the better discount, last month it was the base and before that the mid trim, so it moves about.

Fiat used to issue quarterly price updates on their schemes. (One for cash and one for finance). Back then you could qualify for some hefty discounts even on base spec, run of the mill cars even if you weren't a public sector worker. Fiat sponsored British Cycling and Aston Villa at the time, so their members could also qualify.

When I bought my last car all the quoted prices on these public service broker deals where roughly the same price, but when I went to the dealers and told them the offers they actually did the same price as those via their Blue Light Card scheme and give me free choice of paint, so that was another £750 saved on top of the original saving and the BLC scheme costs a fiver to join.

As mentioned, most are just brokers but one or two like Griffin Mill are actually dealers as well.

You place your order and arrange payment/finance and the car is usually delivered to the dealer of your choice.

It is definitely sensible to compare options and stay flexible about which car you choose, but these schemes are not a trick. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the advertised price is the price you pay.

Fiat also used to publish scheme pricing updates every quarter, with separate offers for cash buyers and finance customers. At that time, fairly substantial discounts were sometimes available even on standard entry-level models, including for people who were not public sector employees.

Those Fiat/Jeep/Alfa/Abarth schemes were call Affinity for cash sales and Privilege for finance sales.

They were open to relatives as well. I remember ordering a car for my sister and mother in law but that was back in 2011 and 2014.

I seem to remember seeing some spam from the Stellantis group a while ago promoting a different Affinity scheme. Same sort of thing, public sector workers but I'm sure it was open to Royal Mail and a few others.
