Hi everyone,
dp1, that's so sad, I hope it gets sorted soon, I do wonder what some of the people who make these decisions would think if it were their own parents.
TA, I'm glad you had a lovely time and were thoroughly spoilt.
I've got a day to myself today, Steve has gone over to C and C's to continue work on the Stables. He's not done a lot for a few months, mainly because he needs help hanging the doors. Anyway Chris has taken a couple of days off this month to help.
I have to go to the surgery to sort out my meds, I can't request them online because they say I need a review!
Laura has been sending details of a new documentary on Netflix about the dangers of plastics in every day life. It's focussed on fertility because they disrupt the endocrine system which is something Laura has been talking about for a while. As a family we have been trying to reduce our plastics as much as possible but it isn't easy or cheap. We're more focussed on the children unsurprisingly, nothing is heated in plastic and they don't have plastic plates or cups. Esther didn't have nappies that have plastic next to the skin and Laura tries to get natural fibre clothes for them, I think it's something that's going to become a much bigger issue over the next few years.
On to pleasanter things - Steve has booked us lunch at Burghley House for my birthday tomorrow, so I'm very much looking forward to that.
Have a good day.

Morning all, thanks for starting the thread @Gers. Don't worry about your Senior Moment, I think we all have them! Nice to have received a tax rebate, have a safe journey to and back from Glasgow.
@TA - Glad you had a lovely weekend away. What is this mini heatwave you speak of? I must have missed that in the forecast but I hope you're right. 😁
@camelot - Fingers crossed the ferry crossing for your DD and LO isn't cancelled.
@Izzy - Hopefully the paracetamol sees off the sore throat.
@Ruby - Isn't it amazing how much stuff we manage to cram into our kitchens? Not long now before it can all go back to where it belongs and you have your house back to normal.
@remmie - I hope the 'talk' goes well whenever it does happen.
@Rosy - That was a long detour for your ex-SiL but, as you say, they're back and safe now.
@Coxy - I hope the snacks didn't spoil the lamb dinner!
@dp1 - It would be ideal if your mam and dad could be in the same care home, both for them and you.
@Chrisca - My fridge needs a clean out too, hopefully this morning before the grocery delivery arrives.
@snoozer - Oooh, a birthday lunch to look forward to.
I had a very lazy and lovely day yesterday and DS made a very tasty corned beef hash with huge Yorkshire puddings; even better - the kitchen was clean and tidy afterwards! I didn't hear anything from DD but that's par for the course these days - I think the modern day term is 'gas-lighting'.
Back to normal today - groceries to put away, towels wash to do (not hanging outside due to forecast rain), beds to make etc. Tea tonight is lamb & mint burgers, about the only form of lamb that's affordable these days! As from the beginning of April, the minimum order amount for cheaper delivery charges from Sainsbugs is going up from £40 to £50 too; under that incurs a £7.50 charge. 😕
Must dash, delivery due anytime now. Let's hope we all have a good start to the new week, take care and stay safe. X

Made it there and back in one piece, only damage to my purse. There was a nasty accident in Inveraray though I managed to get round it on a rat run before the services arrived. It'll be chaos by now.
Thanks for all the good travel wishes - they do help!

Hello again
Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice when you all come back on in the morning.
Mams' social worker rang this morning to arrange to have a teams meeting with my brother and I this afternoon, I thought this was a good sign as she was getting some background before doing mams. assessment which is to be on Wednesday afternoon.
But no…she's still pushing for mam to go home with carers going in 3 times a day, this is not what my mam wants - she wants to go to the same care home as dad. We stressed how she has been trying to get out of the hospital at night and we think she will do the same at home, to find my dad. Then she said that if it was decided that mam needed to go to a care home, it wouldn't be the same one as my dad because there are no beds, there are because the manager told me there is this morning. She said mam has no choice where she goes, I talked to the nurse in charge of her ward this afternoon, and she said of course she does. I realise the social worker is just doing her job and carers in the home are cheaper for the local authority than care homes.
I just feel like I'm going round in circles, being told different things and all the while mam and dad just want to be together again.
That's off my chest……x

@dp1 have you spoken to the Age Uk helpline they may be able to offer advice or point you in the right direction I know they have a team (at least they do here) who deal with care homes etc. I'm dealing with the social worker for an elderly friend and was told they make the decisions not us! Do you or your brother have LPA for your parents (lasting power of attorney) if you do push to attend the meeting on Wednesday to act on her behalf if she is confused and make sure you mention everything however small especially what your mum won't know she's doing or saying. I pushed that there was no carers visiting at night is your mum at risk overnight? is it possible she could fall going to the bathroom during the night? May be worth asking Age UK the policy for separating a couple and the harm this could do for both of them also if she is entitled to six week assessment in a care home.
Our SW mentioned Extra Care Housing also known as assisted limited is that an option for your parents. Down here there are housing association flats you can rent or buy. To rent it has to be a referral from SW team they have 24 hour carers on site, they offer more than warden control, have a dining room, laundry etc, may be a compromise and could keep your parents together? For my elderly friend it opened a can of worms as she was accepting she needed to go into care home after her assessment and suddenly they have come up with this.
Good luck I hope you don't mind me answering your question. Be prepared to fight they want the cheaper option.

dp1 do they have a property to sell to fund them or will they be funded by the LA ?
Agree with asking AGE concern for help and advice .Hope you get somewhere when this SW has done an assessment
