Everi overcharging for item I’d posted with pre-paid label

As per the title I sold a Slendertone toning belt which weighed less than 1kg. I bought a label from eBay and sent it off.
I’ve now received an email from everi that I’ve incurred an extra charge of £3.48 as the courier has said that the item weighed 3.48kg. This is clearly a lie.
is there a link or place on Evri’s website that I can query this and claim my money back?

Many thanks.

you need to start with chat, don't like your chances though, can you prove the weight?

When you say you 'bought a label from ebay' I presume you mean the belt was sold on ebay? Was it not a simple delivery listing? If so you're covered unless you override the ebay suggested postage.

Dont use eBay enough so first of all investigate the comments above as that sounds the easier route

I can't remember which courier it was but had something similar once, took a bit of effort but they eventually sent the "proof" from their automated measuring/weighting machine which came in the form of a picture where you could clearly see my parcel was overlapping with another parcel and the machine had measured/weighed them as one. It was all done with straight through processing so no human had looked at the photo before I was sent the bill.

After finally getting that the whole thing got much easier as they acknowledged that it wasnt just my parcel and so cancelled the fees.

This has been going on with Evri for years - from the days when they were Hermes. I took to taking a photo of the item on digital scales before sending the item. I refused to pay their excess charge each time, partly because the method of payment that they specified looked odd.

My solution to the problem: never use Hermes or Evri. I've never had any such issues with any other carrier.

many thanks for all the replies.
Yes to confirm it was sold on eBay and the label purchased through eBay.
I have a business account so unfortunately don’t get the simple delivery option.

My main problem is I can find a link to complain to Evri. The item has photos which clearly show it’s just a Slendertone belt that weighs hardly anything, let alone 4kg+

Agreed , the only thing I would say is that Royal Mail can hang onto a package for weeks then force the customer to pay to get it. At least with Evri the customer gets the parcel and you can dispute it.

You can de-link Evri from your paypal this prevents them from charging !.

  • Unless eBay can charge a payment method on file for this situation, just ignore it, Evri aren't taking you to court for £3.
