Google Wallet updated bank card

My debit card is due to expire end of April. Google Wallet has already updated my debit card with the new details, which Halifax says does happen even before the new card arrives

So obviously i can use the Google Wallet card now, but if i do will this deactivate my current physical card?

This has happened to me before, it is a bit odd but it's just the bank trying to make things easier for you.

My physical card still worked fine. I used it a couple of times after using the google pay card with no problems. Obviously, as soon as the new card came I destroyed the old one and didn't use it again.

Thanks. Yea ive had it before with Google Wallet updating cards after i cancelled the physical card due to fraud. But then i wasnt able to use my physical card as Halifax disabled it.

Just didnt want to use the card on my Wallet to find the physical one is disabled, as not got that one yet

Most banks issue replacement cards before the original reaches its expiry to prevent you being in a situation where you don't have any valid card. My experience is that you can use either physical card (original or replacement) until their respective expires. No direct experience with Google Wallet but I wouldn't expect linking the new card would have any impact on the original expiring physical card.
