Electric Storage Heater (no gas) how to save costs

Flat has no gas is electric only. Has a storage heater basically boils hot water at 3am to be used throughout the day. Cheapest way to live with is mainly the economy 7 or any type of discount EV tariffs. Any suggestions? Screenshots: https://ibb.co/album/svxT5N

You have a hot water storage tank that supplies hot water to the taps?

What sort of space heating does your flat have?

If those charts are typical then yes, Economy 7 (or an equivalent time-of-use tariff) is likely to be your best option.

Are you already on an Economy 7 tariff or similar? Does your flat have a smart meter? How is the timing of when your hot water cylinder is heated achieved? And the same question as @QrizB has, what do you do for space heating?

How to save costs = insulation, insulation and more insulation is going to provide the best savings.

Space heating is electric radiators not connected to the boiler or water supply.

By electric radiator do you mean very slim units that plug into a standard 13a socket ? Make and model numbers please.

If those are panel heaters fed by day-rate electricity, some forum regulars would suggest finding a different flat before winter comes around again!

Ok so rge load showing is likely to be a standard hot water immersion tank normally c3kW but ops showing c 3.3 kW at am peaks (1.65 kWh per half hr x 2) so perhaps some energy store equivalent since uses the term boiler - heating a core then water flowing over a heat exchanger.

But they could just bd in a high voltage area if nominal 3kW at 230V (c18 ohm) rather than 3kW at 240V (c19-20ohm).

If a simple tank and its heating above 60C you could tweak the thermostat down to 60C, if an owner - not a renter (its a violation of a tenancy to do so - landlords systems must stick to hse 60 deg C min) possibly even below to 55 or even 50 especally if mains pressurised.

Better lagging on tank and hot pipes may help - a medium sized modern tank - just the tank - if a tank - might be losing 1.5kWh a day at 60C nominal (specs bybsize rlosses range fron 1-2 kWh). About a third of ops 3am spike energy consumption.

but in winter such losses on exposed pipes and from tank will be heating part of the flat.

My tank losses keep my laundry fresh and mould free etc - as linen cupboard store above tank is hotter than tge hall it's off of.

But adding up the 4 dotscaround 3 am - its in reality only maybe using 4,5kWh which isnt actually an abnormal amount for a hw use if the also feeding a shower for just 1 per day.

E7 is great for the hw - but oft3n realky bad for the electric radiator panels. See Qrizpb footer link gas comparison for cost examples.

On the 10th 4.5/7 - 64% for just hw off peak e7 will be besting single rate comfortably

    On the 11th 4,5/11 - 40% for hot water off peak e7 - marginal.

On a colder day - if used more panel space eating etc at day rate - maybe more expensive.

The op could perhaps look at totals monthly and annualky and say use tge c4.5kWh hw heater daily use as the off peak share - say 5kWh total over 7 hrs given 0.3kWh spike on 11th not 10th.

I wonder if the hw has its own timers - and giveh low energy use in the 4-7pm time slot on at leadt those 2 days - and as op on a smart meter (has 1/2 hr data) if one of more modern tou like Cosy might not work better than e7 - if allowed on iy.

E0n, EDF and no doubt others also have smart tou tariifs iirc...
